“Today, I am grateful for my life.”
Those are words most people don’t ever think they’ll express. But when you’ve been through a quadruple bypass like Bill Roark, everything changes. Last January, Bill arrived at Huntsville Hospital afraid for his life. He was scheduled for surgery the next day and imagining the worst. But from the moment he walked through our doors, until he was released five days later, the level of care he received was, in his own words, “extraordinary.”
While having access to the most advanced technology played a part, it was the people Bill remembers. From his admitting and prep nurse, Laura Beth, to his cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Shaf Holden, every person he encountered worked diligently to meet Bill’s needs, as well as the needs of his family — always with a healthy dose of optimism and encouragement.
Bill and his wife Brenda were so thankful for the care Bill received that they made a commitment to give each year to Huntsville Hospital Foundation. After a generous donation made last year in recognition of all his caregivers, the couple is giving once again — this time in honor of National Doctors’ Day on March 30th.
“You don’t realize that life can change in an instant — until it does,” Bill said. “But the folks at Huntsville Hospital went above and beyond to save my life and restore peace of mind. Now I can be here to enjoy my family. I want to make it possible for someone else to get that same kind of care; that same second chance.”
Have you had a similar experience at Huntsville Hospital with your own physician? Now is your chance to honor them!
National Doctors’ Day is the day set aside specifically to acknowledge the impact physicians make. Won’t you please join us in this year’s celebration by recognizing them with a tax‐deductible gift to Huntsville Hospital Foundation?
When you give in honor of National Doctors’ Day, you can designate your gift as a tribute to a special doctor(s). Or, you can simply make a general donation to honor all the physicians at Huntsville Hospital who have made it their life’s work to help and to heal.
Whatever you choose to do, please know that with your contribution today, you are not only honoring our doctors — but you are also playing a vital role in helping them continue to give the gift of health to the people who matter most, our patients.
They, like us, will be forever grateful.
